Panchakarma (Five-Step Detox Therapy)

Purpose: Deep detoxification and balancing of doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) Panchakarma is a set of five cleansing procedures to eliminate toxins from the body and rejuvenate the system:

  • Vamana (Emesis Therapy): Induced vomiting to eliminate excess Kapha. Used for asthma, allergies, obesity.
  • Virechana (Purgation): Herbal laxatives clean the intestines and liver. Helps in treating skin issues, acidity, jaundice.
  • Basti (Enema): Herbal oil/decoction enemas to treat Vata disorders like constipation, back pain, arthritis.
  • Nasya (Nasal Administration):Medicated oils or powders introduced through the nose. Effective for migraines, sinusitis, stress.
  • Raktamokshana (Bloodletting):Removing small quantities of blood to purify toxins—used for eczema, acne, or infections.
Abhyanga (Oil Massage)

Purpose: Nourishment, stress relief, improved circulation

This is a full-body warm oil massage using medicated oils suited to one’s dosha. The benefits include:

  • Enhanced blood and lymphatic circulation
  • Improved sleep and digestion
  • Relief from fatigue, joint stiffness, and muscle tension
  • Healthy, glowing skin

It is often performed daily as part of Dinacharya (daily routine) in classical Ayurvedic practice.

Shirodhara

Purpose: Mental clarity, relaxation, and neurological health Shirodhara involves a steady stream of warm medicated oil poured on the forehead, especially over the "third eye" area. It's deeply calming and is used for:

  • Anxiety, depression, insomnia
  • Hypertension
  • PTSD and nervous disorders
  • Enhancing mental focus and mood stability
Swedana (Herbal Steam Therapy)

Purpose: Open up body channels, remove stiffness, flush toxin

This treatment uses herbal steam to make the body sweat. It is typically performed after Abhyanga to help oils penetrate deeper and toxins loosen up. Benefits:

  • Removes stiffness and heaviness

  • Opens pores and promotes circulation
  • Beneficial for arthritis and muscle pain

Udvartana (Dry Powder Massage)

  • Managing obesity and cellulite

Pizhichil

Purpose: Muscular strength, neurological healing, anti-aging Known as the "king of Ayurvedic therapies," Pizhichil combines heat and massage therapy. Warm medicated oil is poured over the body continuously while the therapist massages gently. It:

  • Strengthens muscles and joints
  • Relieves stress, paralysis, and nerve disorders
  • Improves blood circulation
  • Slows signs of aging and promotes relaxation
Basti Karma (Medicated Enema Therapy)

Purpose: Balancing Vata dosha, deep nourishment

Unlike modern enemas, Ayurvedic Basti uses herbal oils or decoctions. It is regarded as the most effective therapy for Vata-related disorders like:

  • Chronic constipation
  • Lower back pain, sciatica, and arthritis
  • Anxiety, restlessness, and sleep issues
  • Neurological and reproductive health
  • There are two main types:
    1. Anuvasana Basti: Oil-based (nourishing)
    2. Niruha Basti: Decoction-based (cleansing)

  • Follow a sleep-wake routine aligned with nature

Rasayana (Rejuvenation Therapy)
